Southern Philippines Baptist Theological Seminary (SPBTS), Inc is a private school in Puan, Davao City. It was inspired by Elaine Crotwell, a missionary who held Bible studies at home starting in 1953. Together with several other Southern Baptist missionaries in Davao, she planned to establish a Bible School to provide Christian leadership training for students in the area. In 1955, the Davao Baptist Bible School opened with two-year course offerings that grant either a diploma or a certificate. It was a branch of the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary and Bible School found in Baguio. It earned its seminary status in 1982 when it was also renamed the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary. Then, the school name was changed again to its current one in 1993.
The seminary currently offers CHED-recognized undergraduate degree programs in Theology and Christian Education / Values Education. It also provides a three-year Master of Divinity and a two-year Diploma in Church Music. Additionally, SPBTS has a Seminary Education by Extension Program which includes a master's degree, bachelor's degree, diploma, and certificate courses. Aside from these higher education programs, the school offers the extended basic education program; its Senior High School (SHS) department has the HUMSS and ABM strands available.
